Gatehouse Comments

Perriam and Robinson include this in their gazetteer of medieval fortified building on the bases of the slight statement in Nicolson and Burn. There is no description of the ancient manor house and no suggestion the house was moated or had a tower. Perriam and Robinson locate this at NY732207 and state 'presumably nothing remains'. On the bases of the persistence of high status sites Gatehouse has placed this at the location of the C18 Hilton Hall.
