'Frampton Castle', otherwise known as 'Trevyan Castle', ruined, near St Ervan is mentioned by William Worcester in 1478. The location of the site is uncertain. There are no places called Frampton or Trevyan in St Ervan parish. There is a Trevean in St Merryn at SW 875 722 almost two miles from St Ervan, but there are no records of a castle or earthwork there. (Cornwall & Scilly HER)

Gatehouse Comments

I suspect Trevean may have been, at one time, in St Ervan parish. The dispersed settlement pattern of Cornwall means Trevean is an entirely possibly location for a small 'castle' of knightly status, and one quite lost under the later farmstead.
