Gatehouse Comments

Presumably on site now occupied by C19 house. The term 'pele' had several meanings by the mid C14 and without seeing the actual context of the primary source it is difficult to be certain as to what this actually means but a small tower tower house in a moat is possible as is a unfortified house within a moated and fenced enclosure. 'Mote' is unlikely to meant motte.
