Gatehouse Comments

This presumably refers to the Iron Age hillfort. There is no other evidence to suggest a medieval residence at this site or at another site under this name. However, Geoffrey of Monmouth reported 'Genoreu; Goronw' as the oppidum (a term that more usually get translated as town but occassionally as castle) where Vortigen was burnt to death.
