Clark records a 'large moated mound' at 'Nevington' King writes "there is no such place, Newington lacks any indication, Sevington has a moat at TR030407; the most probable identification is Nonington, where there is a mound at Mount Ephraim. This is a millstead." However there is, in fact, a large conical hill at Newington which has been, probably wrongly, identified as a 'possible shell keep' and this may well be what Clark was referring too (the misnaming probably being a printers typographical error and nothing to do with Clark.)

Gatehouse Comments

This can be rejected as a both a medieval castle and as the location of Clark's 'Nevington'.
