Henry de Blois, brother of King Stephen, and Bishop of Winchester, is said to have resided at Berrysted House in this parish. The mansion, which stood in the field now called the Warren, on the south east side of the churchyard, was removed about thirty years ago. (Sheahan).

No trace of this mansion survives, and it is not known by local tradition. The site is now occupied by the church graveyard (F1 PAS 04-JUN-1973). (PastScape)
