Gatehouse Comments

Abandoned in 1450 and materials used to repair the other episcopal palaces. Presumably near to parish church at given map reference, although the VCH (Warwickshire, 1949), reports that 'Savage's House' (at SP3158361282) was the reputed manor house site, which is entirely possible. The bishops had a grant of free warren for numerous named manors, including Tachebrok in 1259, which does suggested a residence here although such a limited hunting right may have just been for the manor's resident steward.
