The Bishop's Palace is recorded in the C13 and C14 when it was visted by the Bishop's of Hereford, but it ceased to be used as a palace from 1356. From this time only the farm buildings were maintained. The palace was located by Duncumb (1812), adjoining churchyard to SW. The palace itself (probably not a very prestigious building) may have been replaced by the C19 vicarage c 1800. Documentary evidence indicates there was a ruined building with walls 4 foot to 5 foot high adjoining the churchyard in 1574, said to be the college (of priests), but possibly ruins of palace.
