Site of medieval residential manor of Bishops of Exeter, small and infrequently used, occupied by late C18 house.

A residence was built in Lawhitton near Launceston circa 1106, to serve the bishops when they visited this part of Cornwall (Peter). Sheers Barton. An irregular structure with Medieval core, much altered in C18 (DOE (HHR) Launceston RD Jan 1960 5). (PastScape)

Gatehouse Comments

According to Listed Building report there are a few medieval features in the house, but not in situ. Some of the masonry may be medieval but too much altered to suggest a floor plan.
