Bond writes that a late Saxon possible circuit 'can be traced from topographical indications'.
It has been suggested that there was a mint at Pershore in the mid-11th century (Bond 1977, 8), and from this the existence of a defended burh has been inferred (ibid, 26). The evidence for either the mint or the defences is not strong at present. (Dalwood and Bryant)
