Renn writes "Castelgrove Wood in Romsley is mentioned in 1209" Jackson writes that "Castlefield and Little Castlefield are fieldnames and may be conected with Castlefield (Romsley), a place-name mentioned in 1209. There may be connection with the Low Farm moated site at SO789832 and/or Castle Hill, 3km ESE." The moated site is a small 20m by 50m homestead moat and Jackson's Castle Hill is in Wolverley and Cookley CP, Worcestershire (SO81328204).

Gatehouse Comments

NB there are two Romsleys in Shropshire, both have castle place-names, although this C13 reference does appear to relate to the Romsley near Alverley.
