William de Grandison was granted a license to crenellate his house within a park at Ashperton in 1292. The site is now marked by a moated island with a roughly rectangular enclosure to the east, possibly a bailey. The earthwork remains of fishponds may also survive. The stonework was removed from the site in the late 18th century. (PastScape)

Circular enclosure 100' dia, formed by wet ditch 20' wide on E, but wider elsewhere. 12' deep of irregular rectangular outline. (Herefordshire SMR ref. Scheduling record)
