NY 34900189. A ?motte consisting of an oval mound 35 by 22m at the base, greatest height 4m, and the top apparently originally 25m long, there being only vestiges of a higher south east end, removed by quarry, reported at Pull Beck, Skelwith. (PastScape ref. Welsh)

A possible motte consisting of an oval mound 35 x 25 m at the base, greatest height 4 m. The top was probably originally 25 m long, but the SE end has been damaged by quarrying. (Lake District HER)

Gatehouse Comments

Does not appear to be manorial centre but in mountainous area of dispersed settlement. No suggestion of a bailey or anything that may have replaced a bailey. Not a focus for routes. Could be quarry spoil or glacial feature. Questionable as motte.
