An "old castle" is shown, roughly drawn with battlements, standing in the SE corner of the property of Retallack (SW 5631) on an old map. The map, of Retallack in St Hilary, is undated but could not be later than 1758 (Jenkin). (PastScape)

Gatehouse Comments

A modern farm stands on the probably site. This may well have been a thin walled building with decorative battlements, as one might expect anything more strongly built to survive, at least in record. It is also possible the drawing used battlements in a symbolic way, rather than as a representation of the actual structure. The surrounding landscape has been extensive mined.
